UPDATE 4/21: We have new facts about a weekend crash that severely injured two off-duty Washington County, Tennessee sheriff's deputies.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says charges are pending against the driver.
The accident happened a little before 2:00 a.m. Sunday on Old State Route 34 in Jonesborough.
We're told Louis Cunnigham's vehicle went off the side of the road, crossed a creek, and hit the opposite creek embankment.
His passenger, Tim Moore, was thrown from the vehicle. Cunnigham had to be cut from the car. Both are still in the Johnson City Medical Center.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says speed was a factor and alcohol was involved. They are currently waiting on blood test results to determine if charges will be filed.
Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal says both deputies were off duty at the time of the crash, and they were traveling in a private vehicle.
