The skeleton of a house is all that's left after a Sunday morning fire on Camelia Avenue in Kingsport.
Brittany Olmos is the mom of two boys, six-year-old Efren and four-year-old Alex. Both boys suffered smoke inhalation. Her fiancé, 23-year-old Stephan McCauley, was burned on 40 percent of his body.
"He did try to go upstairs to rescue to try to get to our kids. He could not make it except to get to the top of the stairs and he had to jump out the side window. He was laying on the ground saying get my boys, please get my boys. Somebody get my kids," says Brittany Olmos.
The boy's grandma also suffered burns on her hands and feet, but the heat of the flames was too much.
When firefighters arrived they grabbed a ladder from the neighbor’s house and used it to reach the second-story window where the boys were. "When the firefighters did get here they brought my kids out, they was just lifeless," adds Olmos.
Two-month-old Airona was not hurt in the fire. She is going with her mom and grandma to meet the rest of the family in Cincinnati, Ohio where both boys and McCauley were flown for treatment.
The Kingsport Fire Department is still working to determine the cause of the fire. While family works to pick up the pieces.
We’re told Stephan McCauley is in critical, but stable condition and is expected to have surgery Tuesday.
The boys, Efren and Alex, are both in stable condition.
The American Red Cross is helping the family.
