HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. -

A train derailed in Hawkins County on Tuesday night, according to Norfolk Southern. 

Railroad spokesperson Susan M. Terpay said the derailment happened about 10:18 p.m. when a locomotive and nine empty rail cars went off the tracks near the Seminole Gas Company in Bulls Gap. 

The train's engineer was taken to the hospital. The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
