CASTLEWOOD, Va. -

Three Castlewood High School students have been found guilty on charges involving the sexual assault of a classmate.

Russell County Commonwealth's Attorney Brian Patton says the verdict came after a long trial. Click here to read more about the charges.

The teens, Kenneth Otto Purkey, Jonathan Corey Lasley and Nicholas Wythe Kiser were tried as adults. They were found guilty of animate object sexual penetration and conspiracy to commit animate object sexual penetration.

Patton told us Wednesday that the victim had 'mental limitations.'

The teens are in the Highlands Juvenile Detention Center in Bristol. They're scheduled to be sentenced September 12.

Patton says they could be sentenced to anywhere from five years to life in prison and that they will have to register as sex offenders.
