The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is looking for volunteers to be a source of information to visitors during peak tourist season.

Park officials are recruiting people to volunteer at least one four-hour shift a week at the Information Center at Clingmans Dome. Clingmans Dome, which is the highest point in the Smoky Mountains, is elevated to 6,300 feet.

Park officials are hoping volunteers will be able to help visitors plan future trips, provide information about trails and educate people about the high-elevation spruce-fir ecosystem at Clingman's Dome.

The volunteers, who will get training, will be needed during peak season from April 1 through Nov. 30.  Anyone interested in more information or signing up to volunteer can call Florie Takaki at (828) 497-1906 or email Florie_Takakinps.gov Monday through Friday.
