MOUNTAIN CITY, Tenn. - Shots fired at a Mountain City apartment complex leads to a stand off with Johnson County Sheriff's deputies.
We're told this happened Friday evening shortly after 6:00 p.m. at Village Apartments.
Mountain City Police officers told us no one was hurt but that the shots were fired right behind one of the apartment buildings.
Tequila Wagner told us it all happened in her back yard.
"There was about five or six shots that was just really loud," she said.
Two men had sprayed bullets only a few feet away, according to officers. They told us, when officers got on scene, they found seven shells from an assault rifle.
The suspects were no longer at the apartment complex so officers called in Johnson County Sheriff's deputies for help.
We're told deputies found the suspects with a stolen assault rifle, in a stolen car on Dr. Taylor Lane.
"One ran up the side of the mountain trying to get away and the other was found by the car," said Officer Ken Lane, with Mountain City Police.
Deputies said that's when the stand-off started, as they waited for back up.
We're told it lasted about 15 minutes, then both suspects were taken into custody.
Deputies arrested Isaac Eaton, 22, and Derrek Vance, 21. Both men are from Mountain City.
"They've been in trouble almost all of their life," said Lane. "Both were on probation. They have an extensive history of violence."
Lane told us the men were previously associated with aggravated burglaries, among other crimes.
They've now been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated criminal trespassing, felony reckless endangerment, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The men are now being held at the Johnson County jail, each on a $35,000 bond.
Their arraignment is Wednesday.
Village Apartments resident Tequila Wagoner told us she's relieved the suspects have been caught.
"My kids play out here all the time," she said. "We play out here when its warm. It really did scare me to death."
