Two unrelated cases of students making threats of a school shooting Monday morning in Johnson City have resulted in two arrests, police said.
One threat was made by a 15-year-old male student from Science Hill High School on a social media website, according to a report from the Johnson City Police Department. The teen was non-specific in the threat in terms of the school and was arrested and charged with one count of false reporting.
The other threat was made by a 14-year-old male student at Liberty Bell Intermediate School, the report said. Staff and students of that facility reported the threat by the student who was also charged with false reporting.
There was no immediate threat to the safety and security of any student or staff member at either school, police reported. The teens were released to the custody of their parents and they will be arraigned next month in city juvenile court.
