Christmas is more than two months away, but right now, signups are underway for the Angel Tree program.
The Johnson City Salvation Army is holding sign ups this week at the Appalachian Fairgrounds.
They'll be there every day until Friday from 9 to noon and 1 to 3.
Workers say the Angel Tree program is important because no child should wake up on Christmas without anything under the tree.
"To be involved with the Angel Tree I think is a very rewarding experience for anyone who wants to help a child that may not have anything for Christmas," Phyllis Cornett said.
You'll need several items to sign up.
You need a photo ID of yourself, ID of others over the age of 12, proof of children's ages (birth certificate, shot record, current TennCare/BlueCare Card), proof of income, proof of expenses (bill), proof of address and food stamp letter, if you receive food stamps.
Workers say at least 2,000 kids benefit from the Angel Tree every year.
