Police: Man tried to eat counterfeit money

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Three people are facing charges after police say they tried to use counterfeit money at some local restaurants.

According to Johnson City Police, Michael Herron and Adam Dillingham, along with a minor, attempted to pay for their order at IHOP when employees became suspicious.

The three suspects left and went to a nearby McDonald's, where police say employees there also found the suspects suspicious and called them.

The three were still at the scene when police arrived. Officers say Dillingham attempted to eat several of the bills he had hidden in his shoe.

Dillingham is charged with 24 counts of criminal simulation and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Herron is charged with seven counts of criminal simulation. Both will be in court Wednesday.

The minor was released to his legal guardian. He is expected in juvenile court on Wednesday as well.
