Johnson City MMA fighter schedules...

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Preston "The Ice Pick" Schick is a mixed martial arts fighter from Johnson City who is gaining national attention for his world class striking.

"He's the Valor Fights Featherweight Champion," Casey Oxendine, his coach, says. "That's a very prestigious amateur title."

The Sullivan East High School graduate took his first mixed martial arts class when he was 15, and it was love at first punch.

"It's a feeling and an adrenaline rush that you don't get with anything else," Schick says.

Just days after his 18th birthday, the Ice Pick notched his second career win and his first career viral knockout.

"I threw the overhand left hook straight and teeth went flying," he says.

The clip of that tooth-shattering punch has since been viewed by millions of people worldwide.

"I didn't notice until afterwords but it was definitely insane," Schick says with a laugh.

The right hand put Schick on the fast track up the MMA ladder, helping him land a spot in the only amateur fight at Bellator's event at Bristol Motor Speedway earlier this year.

"When they announced my name and said Johnson City, Tennessee, everyone kind of roared," he says.

He won that fight via knockout as well.

"Left hook straight cross landed perfectly and knocked him flat out."

Schick is 6-feet and 1-inch tall and fights at 145 pounds. His coaches at Team Oxendine say that's the makeup of the perfect fighter.

"He's long, he's lanky, he's got tremendous range but is also very strong," Oxendine says.

Schick's next fight is on Nov. 4, where he will defend his Valor Featherweight title in Nashville.

"I'm not going to stop until I get stopped," he says.
