JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - One person is dead following an officer involved shooting in Johnson City.
According to Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is taking over the investigation.
The sheriff tells News 5 deputies had been chasing the suspect throughout the day. He said deputies spotted the car in question again Monday evening, and chased him again.
The suspect stopped at Highway 67 and Milligan Highway.
The sheriff said he then "brandished a weapon."
Deputies then fired at the suspect. The suspect died from being shot.
Lunceford said he doesn't have all the details yet, but they would be made available.
