Officers on scene tell News 5 a man was driving a truck on Highway 11W. They say the truck ran of the road, crashed into some bushes, went through a fence and landed in Cherokee Lake. They say this part of the lake is typically not filled with water, but is used for back flow when it rains. The area was filled with water when the truck landed in the lake.
They say the truck has been removed, but there was no sign of the man who was driving it. The last time anyone heard from him was when he sent a text message to his girlfriend at 4:00 a.m.
Hawkins County Rescue Squad is searching the water by boat. THP is investigating.
