GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. - A man who made national news after he was accused of disrupting a public meeting in Greene County is now gaining support.
Eddie Overholt was arrested back on July 18 during a meeting of the Industrial Development Board. Overholt is charged with disrupting a public meeting and resisting arrest. Police say he was not obeying the instructions of board chairman, Mayor Alan Broyles after he told the crowd to quiet down.
There is now a petition that has started online encouraging the District Attorney's Office to dismiss all charges against Overholt. We're told it already has more than 800-supporters.
