Good Samaritan Ministries needs help with Thanksgiving baskets

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Good Samaritan Ministries needs your help to fill food baskets this Thanksgiving.

More than 2,000 people will receive one of the charity's Thanksgiving Baskets from Good Samaritan Ministries.

Besides Thanksgiving dinner, baskets come with enough food to help struggling families eat throughout the long weekend.

Here's the problem, Good Samaritan needs almost $8,000 to fill the rest of their baskets, but this was a bigger problem earlier in the week. "At the beginning of the week we had a great concern because we had $14,000 that we needed. In the last few days we've had people come by and give us money, we had a very kind gentleman come in and give us a $3,500 check and that was a great blessing to us," said Melissa Dixon with Good Samaritan Ministries.

News 5 learned there are several ways to donate, you can drop a check off in person or by mail at 100 N Roan St. Johnson City, TN 37601. You can also donate online at www.goodsamjc.org.
