The Tennessee Department of Health is encouraging us all to be healthier this Halloween. The department has a few suggestions to provide some healthier alternatives.
They say parents should make sure children have a balanced dinner before taking part in Halloween festivities. That way, they're less likely to want to eat of lot of treats before returning home.
Limit how long you trick-or-treat, so children don't get too much candy. Stash treats out of reach, to be issued one or two at a time in the upcoming days.
Also consider buying back candy from your children, so they can buy something else they want.
