When it comes to land laws, state leaders in Tennessee have recently passed new legislation on annexation.
18-separate bills concerning annexation were to be voted on this legislative session.
State Representative Tony Shipley says leaders voted and passed a 13-month moratorium bill, it's now waiting on the governor's signature.
The moratorium essentially puts a halt before any decision is made.
Representative Shipley says he's reached out to the Attorney General to weigh in on annexation laws, "So we've asked the question and the Attorney General has sent back a receipt saying they have it for action. So when this study goes into effect at least we'll have some guidance constitutionally are we in the right place on behalf of our people."
We've learned the moratorium will only effect residential and farm land.
