GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. -

A teenager accused of trying to kill a classmate at South Greene High School made his first appearance in adult court Monday.

17-year-old Jacob Mitchell was arraigned on a charge of Attempted First Degree Murder. He'll be back in court on May 8 to see if he will be indicted.

He was initially charged as a juvenile, but the case was moved to adult court. Click here to read more.

Police say Mitchell is accused of stabbing a classmate before school in the cafeteria at South Greene High School in September 2013. Click here to read more. 

Mitchell was 16 years old at the time, but has since had a birthday.
