SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. -

The Kingsport City School Board decided to not extend an agreement with the Innovation Academy after this school year, but Director of Schools for Sullivan County Jubal Yennie says they are committed to the academy.

The two school systems had a partnership to run the school after they received a federal grant for two years. Yennie tells us they believe in what in Innovation Academy is doing and want to see it continue to grow.

Yennie says cost will not be an issue to keep the school running. "The grant dollars primarily provided funding for supplies and materials, the sustainability that was built into it in terms of teachers and expectations, and where that's going most definitely it was never an issue of cost," adds Yennie.

Yennie tells us even though the Kingsport City School Board decided to not extend the contract it, will not affect who is able to attend the school because it's for regional use.
