During the investigation into Saturday's shooting in Sullivan County, detectives say they developed a new case against the suspect.

42-year-old Gregory Slemp is charged with attempted second degree murder stemming from a shooting incident on Hidden Valley Road. During the investigation, deputies say they uncovered evidence suggesting Slemp assaulted his ex-wife.

Deputies say the attack happened two days before the shooting incident.

The victim told detectives she was hit in the head with a toilet seat and was thrown in a 15-foot unfinished basement, with no stairs leading to it.
