SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. -

As far as voter turnout Tuesday evening, Sullivan County reported 'light but steady' for the number of people casting their ballots in the Democratic and Republican primaries.

The number of ballots cast on this election day may be a result of the high turnout of voters who participated in early voting that was available in Tennessee according to Sullivan County election administrator Jason Booher. "We had a little more than 8,700 cast a ballot in early voting, which is quite a bit more than 5,000 four years ago and 3,000 eight years ago," he said.

Booher tells us as many as 15,000 thousand votes will be cast in this election, which is around 14 to 15 percent of the total registered voters in Sullivan County.
