Before you head out to the mailbox this Saturday to get your mail, be sure and leave some food items for your letter carriers.
The 22-nd Annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive is underway. Letter carriers all across the U.S. have left plastic bags for folks to fill up.
In Bristol, the food collected will go to the Haven of Rest, the Bristol Emergency Food Bank and the Salvation Army.
Joe Irvin form the Salvation Army says this food drive is important to them. "It is the single largest food drive that we have. The three agencies count on this food drive to meet the needs of our neighbors. Last year the three agencies combined to serve over 20,000 people to provide food assistance."
Your asked to leave non-perishable food such as canned soup, vegetables, peanut butter, pasta or other items next to your mailbox Saturday. If you forget, you can simply drop off those items at one of those non-profit locations.
