Letter carriers were picking up more than mail on Saturday.
The National Association of Letter Carriers teamed up with Campbell Soup Company for the 22nd annual "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive.
Letter carriers left plastic bags for people to fill up with non-perishable food donations and picked them up on Saturday.
The drive benefits several food pantries in our region, including Second Harvest Food Bank. They tell us this food drive is one of their most important.
Second Harvest Food Bank's Heather Brack says,"We get a lot of food during the holiday, however there is a big need during the summer for people to come into the Food Bank because children are home from school. So, there's a greater need on the budget for people to buy food."
Last year the "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive raised 74.4 million pounds of food nationwide
If you forgot to leave a bag out on Saturday, you can simply drop off your donations at your local food bank.
