Students at Highland View Elementary School in Bristol, Virginia, now have some new play equipment, courtesy of a home improvement super store.

Principal Pam Smith tells us the school wanted to make life better for underprivileged students, and got help from Home Depot to make it happen.

Smith tells us much of the previous playground equipment was too damaged to be used, and needed to be taken down. She says the new playground is a big upgrade. "With this playground, they'll have an area to themselves that is safe, well-kept, and provide them with the equipment that they need for their sizes. It's a safe environment for them to play," she said.

Volunteers put in a sand box, new swings and an outdoor garden.

Home Depot is also providing snacks for the after-school program and monthly enrichment activities.
