Even though school isn't out just yet,, the Second Harvest Food Bank is kicking off their Summer Food Service Program.
Several organizations donated money on Tuesday.
Walmart donated $65,000, ConAgra Foods Foundation donated $20,000, and Arby's Foundation gave $5,000.
Second Harvest Executive Director Rhonda Chafin tells us last year they provided food to more than 1,600 children each week day during the summer.
She says summer programs like this are important to many families in our region. "Children, when school is out, they can't take advantage of free or reduced lunch. This program is really key because it may be the only nutritious meal that child receive," she said.
Chafin says this year they are providing food at 43 sites across the region. For a list of those sites, click here to visit their website.
