SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. - UPDATE 4:35 p.m.: The suspect has been identifed as Ramson McCoy. He was wanted on charges of larceny and theft. Click here to read more.

UPDATE 11:52 a.m.: According to Sullivan County Sheriff Wayne Anderson, the suspect was killed after being shot.


UPDATE 11:44 a.m.: We spoke to Diane Howard, who lives near where the chase ended. She tells us she heard gunshots. "I never heard gunshots before, except other than people hunting," she said. "When that went off I told my husband, 'That sounds like gunfire.' He didn't know. He ran out and he called me. It was scary to know he was outside."

Law enforcement from several agencies plan to hold a news conference this afternoon.


UPDATE 11:23 a.m.: Sheriff Fred Newman tells us the pursuit of a suspect wanted on several felony warrants started in Washington County, Virginia.

The chase crossed the state line into Tennessee, then later back into Virginia, and again back into Tennessee.

Vehicles belonging to a Washington County, Virginia deputy and a U.S. Marshal were damaged during the pursuit.

The suspect was shot during the incident. Newman says he rammed at least one vehicle.

There will be a press conference this afternoon.

UPDATE 10:57 a.m.: The chase has ended on Highway 126.

Officers were able to stop the suspect near Steele Creek just before 11 a.m.

We have a crew on the way to the scene and will have more information shortly.


We're told by Sullivan County dispatch that there is a police chase that has gone into Blountville from Washington County, Virginia.

The suspect was last seen at mile marker 71.

We'll have more information as it's available.
