BRISTOL, Tenn. -

It's that time of year again -- race week at Bristol. Campers are moving in, flags are going up, and the finishing touches are being made at the World's Fastest Half-Mile.

There is still some work being done to an area together at Earhart Campground, including some assistance from Mother Nature, hopefully drying out some of the wet ground.

People at the campground say they are excited to be back in Bristol. Still days away from the action at Bristol Motor Speedway, fans like Paul Aeschliman, all the way from Michigan, are revved up about the upcoming races. "You can't even explain it. You've got to be here to enjoy it," he said. "There ain't nothing like being here."

Campers are moving in for the week, but they're making their homes on some soggy grounds according to Bill Gaines at Bristol Campground and Event Parking. "We've had more rain this year than I can ever remember," he said.

At Bristol Campground the rain soaked some campgrounds, but those campers moved. The ground dried enough to move other campers in their spot, and the people here haven't missed a beat. "We generally don't have a problem with flooding except on one small area in the back of the campground," Gaines explained.

For many people, the rainy season we've had doesn't matter as long as we have a dry week ahead according to campground owner Charles Earhart. "It's been a very good week and God has truly blessed us with the weather," he said. "With lots of areas that had rain, we haven't had very much and the forecast is good. People are excited."

Fans there are hoping for a sunny forecast both from Mother Nature and from the action on the track. After all, some fans like Paul Aeschliman are leaving their home to come see the action right here in Bristol. "The race was just in Michigan, [but I came] here," he said.

So what's next at Bristol Motor Speedway? The truck race is Wednesday night; the Food City 250 is Friday night; and the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol is Saturday.
