BRISTOL, Va. - It's a big day for the proposed King College School of Medicine.
The Liaison Committee on Medical Education says King has met its initial eligibility requirements. Essentially, this means that King is well on its way to full accreditation.
Thursday afternoon we met with King College President Greg Jordan, who told us that King College is one of seven schools nationwide to earn this distinction.
The school has also applied for a 501c status so they can become a non-profit, which will help with fundraising for the school. The first class of 60-70 students could begin in 2014.
Classes will be held at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center until the new construction on Exit 14 off Interstate 81 is completed.
