SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. -

Some local sheriff's offices don't want you to forget: Saturday you can drop off all your unwanted or old prescription medications.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back event kicks off Saturday.

It's happening all over the Tri-Cities, police departments encourage people to get rid of unused medications to keep from safety hazards. "You don't want to leave those types of medications in your home because it could set you up to potentially be victimized. We have had a number of cases where people have invaded a home or burglarized a home simply to get their medication," said Leslie Earhart with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office.

Most of the drop off areas are from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday.
