Campaign sources tell News 5 Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney will be in Abingdon, VA Friday.
We’ve learned he’ll be addressing a crowd at Carter Machinery about 11:30 that morning.
This marks Romney’s first visit to the area since becoming the Republican nominee. It is believed he’ll meet with coal workers about the state of that industry and recent layoffs.
The Romney campaign tells News 5 there are free tickets available to the rally. Tickets can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the campaign office on 1060 West Main Street in Abingdon, or online at mittromney.com/VA.
The event starts about 11:00 a.m. The gates will open at 9 a.m.
