Attorneys are now drawing up the final paperwork for a settlement between Sullivan County and two victims of a trailer fire that happened during a police standoff in 2011.
According to county attorney Dan Street, Sullivan County will pay the plaintiffs Margret Spradlin and Shirley Brewer Spradlin $110,000, remove the destroyed trailer and pay court costs associated with the lawsuit.
Spradlin was a suspect in the death of Ronald Wade Roberts in Abingdon in January 2011. Roberts died from a single punch.
In April 2011, authorities found and attempted to capture Spradlin. He led authorities on a high-speed chase to a home in Blountville, Tennessee. Click here to read more.
Officers used tear gas on the home, which ignited the fire. Spradlin escaped during the standoff and later turned himself in. Click here to read more.
Junior Spradlin was found guilty of second degree murder in December of 2011.
