BRISTOL, Va. - Police are investigating several reports of people, including children, being shot with an BB gun in Bristol, Virginia.
We're told there have been several shooting incidents since Wednesday.
Drive by Kathy Vance's house on New Hampshire Avenue, and you won't see her children playing in the yard like they normally do.
"I think it's a shame that you can't even play or do things without being worried, I mean, this is supposed to be a good place to live," Vance says.
On Friday, her 12-year-old son, Teddy and his brother were playing in the yard, when they say a red SUV drove by and shot them with an airsoft gun. Not once, but twice.
"I was hit once in my shoulder and once right here," as he points to his hip.
This isn't the only incident reported to police. We spoke with Sergeant Steven Crawford with the Bristol, Virginia Police Department. He says there have been a total of five cases, as of Saturday afternoon.
"Either standing on their property, or on the sidewalk and being shot with these airsoft guns, these plastic BB's," Sgt. Crawford says.
The first report was May first, around 4 o'clock in the afternoon, when police say a man was shot while standing on the sidewalk on Euclid Avenue.
The next day, around the same time, 2 people were shot in the face while sitting in their car at a red light on Old Airport Road.
Within an hour of the second incident, police say a third was reported from Massachusetts Avenue.
They say 2 children were shot with the same type of weapon.
Friday, Teddy and his brother were hit.
Then, later on McKinley Avenue, they say a man was shot while cutting the grass.
While none of the injuries are serious, Vance tells News 5 it has left behind emotional stress.
"He got sick, had to take him to the E.R. and they said that he was having post dramatic stress disorder because of him being scared."
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting incidents to give them a call at 276-645-7400.
Police say so far, three different vehicles have been reported near the incidents.
A green SUV, a red SUV and a silver truck.
