JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

Attempted murder charges for a Johnson City pharmacist accused of trying to kill his wife will not go to the grand jury.

A preliminary hearing was held Monday morning for Lee Scott Renfro. The judge ruled that there was not probable cause to show that Renfro tried to kill his wife.

The judge said the drug that Renfro was accused of injecting into his wife did not lower her blood sugar. The charge of simple assault will go to the grand jury.

Police say Renfro tried to kill his wife by injecting her with a diabetic medication she was not prescribed back in February.

The hearing was originally set to take place last Wednesday, but we're told it was reset after a witness was not able to make it to court.

His bond was lowered to $1,000.
