JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

People lined the streets of downtown Johnson City on Saturday as floats, marching bands and even some of your favorite news personalities hit the streets spreading Christmas cheer.

Many were bundled up and ready to take in the sights and sounds of the holiday season.

"It's a family tradition and we just like to spend time together," adds Madison Varney.

For many this parade ushers in the holiday season. For others it's as chance to reconnect with family and friends.

"It's so great to be out here and the weather really isn't that bad," says News 5 WCYB Anchor Julie Newman.

"This is great. It's a great crowd, it's great to be out here and we love doing this we really do. It's wonderful, Merry Christmas," adds News 5 WCYB Anchor Garick Zikan.

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam was the grand marshal of the parade.
