JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

The Johnson city Fire Department is investigating the cause of a late night house fire.

Fire officials tell News 5 it happened in an apartment on King Springs Road just before midnight Monday. Officials say flames and smoke billowed out of the apartment when crews arrived.

We're told firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly, as it was contained to the room where it started.

One person was taken to the hospital to be treated for over-exertion, after trying to put out the fire with an extinguisher.
