2011: Warren Christopher, who served as the 63rd secretary of state during President Bill Clinton's first term, dies from complications of kidney and bladder cancer at the age of 85 in Los Angeles, California. He also served as deputy attorney general in President Lyndon Johnson's administration, and as deputy secretary of state in President Jimmy Carter's administration. He was also sent to supervise the contested Florida recount for Vice President Al Gore in the 2000 U.S. presidential election.
