2014: Army Spc. Ivan Lopez, a 34-year-old Iraq War veteran, shoots and kills three people and wounds 16 more at the Fort Hood Army Base near Killeen, Texas, before taking his own life. The base was previously the scene of a mass shooting in 2009, in which 13 people were killed and more than 30 wounded.
