Old drug making a comeback in Tennessee
Police: Heroin use on the rise
Tennessee officials say there's an increasing number of heroin cases in larger cities in the state.
The Associated Press cited data from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation in reporting that the number of incidents has more than doubled since 2010.
Records show that last year there were 241 heroin cases in Middle Tennessee, 143 in West Tennessee and 44 in East Tennessee. Most are in Davidson and Shelby counties.
The report shows the arrest of two people in Chattanooga recently on heroin charges highlights how the drug, which seemed to vanish from the city for decades, could be making a comeback.
