New fee for non-residents to exercise at Slater Center
If you don't live in city limits, you'll soon have to pay to exercise at the Slater Center.
Non-residents of Bristol, Tennessee will be paying an annual fee of $120 to use the facility. That fee will go into effect starting January 1, 2014.
Officials tell us this money will help maintain the quality of equipment at the Slater Center as the number of members continues to increase. "The cost of everything is going up, our membership numbers are going up. Last year we registered over 3,000 people and about one-third of those are actually city residents," said Terry Napier, Director of Parks and Recreation in Bristol, Tennessee.
You might have noticed new computers at the Slater Center; that's because the facility is also updating how people log in for classes.
Officials tell us the computerized system will save time and money.
