RICHMOND, Va. -

In a campaign of rare one-on-one encounters, Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Ken Cuccinelli will take turns addressing two of the Virginia gubernatorial race's most recurring issues - education and jobs.

The consecutive appearances before a forum sponsored by the Virginia Business Higher Education Council and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce come exactly one week ahead of their lone remaining debate showdown before a prime time statewide television audience.

It marks an opportunity for Cuccinelli to establish some badly needed credibility among business leaders and educators after scoring a major endorsement Monday from one the influential Northern Virginia Technology Council's political arm.

For McAuliffe, it's a chance to play up his proposal for using Virginia's community colleges as incubators for a work force tailored for high-tech manufacturing and service jobs.
