Greenville Police arrested a man they say was disrupting a public meeting Friday morning, and it was caught on camera.
News 5 spoke with the assistant police chief Craig Fillers. He confirms the man was arrested at the meeting for not obeying the instructions of board chairman and county mayor Alan Broyles after Broyles told the crowd to quiet down. According to fillers, the meeting was a public meeting and not a public hearing, meaning members of the public were not allowed to speak, and the man refused to stop talking.
This photo seen above is a still from cell phone video from a person in the crowd that was posted to Facebook.
The man was charged with disrupting a public meeting and taken to jail.
The industrial development board was discussing a controversial water line that would run to the US Nitrogen plant located near Mosheim. The pipeline has been previously denied by state regulators.
We are looking into what happened in the meeting and will have more later today on News 5 WCYB.
