Door-to-door delivery by the US Postal Service could soon be coming to an end.

The Postal Service has been phasing in the change under a cost-saving plan.

It's unclear if delivery to the door will go away entirely. A spokesperson says converting delivery to curbside mailboxes or neighborhood mailbox clusters will allow the postal service to provide service to more customers in less time.

More than 30 million American homes get door-to-door delivery.

Another 50 million get their mail delivered to a mailbox.
