Local teachers vying for big award

BRISTOL, Va. -

      Six teachers from our area are in the running for the McGlothlin Award for Teaching Excellence.

      The McGlothlin Foundation based in Bristol, Virginia hands out more than $50,000dollars every year.

      The semi-finalists in the Elementary category include:

      -Andrew Perry from Anderson Elementary in Bristol, Tennessee

      -Steven Cregger from High Point Elementary in Bristol, Virginia

       Three teachers from our area are advancing in the Secondary category.  They are:

     -Sarah Burke from Gate City Middle/High School

     -Susan Hampton from Virginia Middle School in Bristol, Virginia

     - Stephanie Miller from Colonial Heights Middle School in Sullivan County.

      The winners will be announced in April.
