RICHMOND, VA -

The Libertarian Party and nine former Virginia candidates have filed a lawsuit challenging state law.

The Libertarian Party claims the law gives democrats and republicans an unfair advantage in elections.

The lawsuit was filed against the three-member Virginia state board of elections.

The state law requires minor party candidates to get signatures on petitions to get on the ballot. The names are placed below those of major-party candidates on the ballot.

The State Attorney General's office represents the elections board and says it hasn't received the lawsuit.
