State foresters are sharing some of the lesser-known scenic tours to enjoy Virginia's changing fall colors.
The foresters with the Virginia Department of Forestry have developed local scenic driving tours that they say are off the beaten path. The self-guided leaf-peeping tours include routes in the Charlottesville and Culpeper area, the Lexington and Roanoke regions and the Staunton area.
The fall foliage touring tips can be found by visiting http://www.dof.virginia.gov/fall/ .
The department says Virginia has more than 16 million acres of forestland.
