The Kingsport Police Department is encouraging drivers to buckle up.
It is part of the state of Tennessee’s SAFE Campaign. SAFE stands for “Seat belts Are For Everyone.”
Police in Tennessee say more than half of the deadly traffic crashes last year involved people not wearing seat belts.
Kingsport Police believe the city’s seat belt usage rate is at 85 percent. The goal for this campaign is to increase the number of residents buckling up.
The campaign runs through August 1.
