KINGSPORT, Tenn. -

A Kingsport man took action when someone tried to steal from him.

Daniel Williams tells us he chased down the suspect after getting a call from his son that someone was breaking into their garage.

"I ran to my vehicle, got in it. I was still talking to my son," says Daniel Williams.

Williams called police and then stayed on the phone with his son, who gave him a description of the reported burglar, who officers say stole hundreds of dollars in tools before loading up the family's two motorcycles.  "He gave me all the information -- what the guy looked like, what the guy was driving," says Williams.

Williams raced home and passed the suspect on the road. He turned around and began following him while on the phone with a 911 operator. "Dispatch was on the phone with me and they said they had officers waiting right there in front of Walmart. Six or seven of them pulled in there behind him and cut the guy off," says Williams.

Officers tell us the suspect, Jared King, pulled into a nearby church parking lot with the stolen loot.  They say when they questioned him, he admitted to everything.

Police arrested King and charged him with burglary and theft.
