The State Corporation Commission will hear from the public on a request by Kentucky Utilities Company to increase its rates.
The June 24 hearing in Norton will give customers in southwest Virginia the chance to testify on the rate request.
The company does business in the area as Old Dominion Power Company. It is seeking an increase in base rates of $6.5 million. The increase would translate to an increase of $9.57 - or about 10 percent - for residential customers using 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity.
There will be an additional public hearing in Richmond on Oct. 1.
