SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. -

If you are heading out in the winter weather, it is a good idea to pack some emergency supplies in your car.

We talked with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and troopers tell us it is good to keep items like a flashlight, blanket, phone charger, water, and boots anytime you are driving. It can be a life saver, just in case you are out longer than planned.

"Have proper shoes, you know you can wear shoes that actually if you are coming from work or whatever. Make sure you put something in that you can walk in; you may have to walk in snow and your feet will get cold," said Lt. Rick Garrison.

They tell us no matter the weather outside, a first-aid kit is also a good tool to keep in your car.
