Senior citizens in Jonesborough could have a new activities center before the end of the year.
The building's concrete foundation is complete and metal framing is going up for the walls and roof.
Rainey general contractors is building the structure at the corner of East Main Street and Longview Avenue.
"This weather has really helped us a lot we were delayed month after month because of the winter weather and getting the building out of the ground." says Bob Browning. "So we're seeing quite a bit of progress right now."
The new senior center will be four times bigger than the current center.
November is the target date for completion.
