WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. -

Speed and red light cameras in the town of Jonesborough are here to stay, at least for the next five years.

The town administrator confirmed for us Tuesday that Jonesborough has agreed to another five-year deal with Redflex, the company that operates the cameras.

We're told about 450 citations are issued a month. Revenue from citations is split between Redflex and the Town of Jonesborough.

Town administrator Bob Browning says it collects about $45,000 a year in fines. "From the town's standpoint it's been a very successful program," he said. "We have seen an improvement in safety and we want that to continue."

Jonesborough officials say the town does not have any plans to add more red light or speed cameras.
